Commanding Officer Reference for Project GO - Spring, 2022

Project GO Commanding Officer Reference Instructions

In order to participate in Project Global Officer (Project GO), ROTC students are required to have their commanding officer submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf. Below is an explanation of Project GO; after reading through this description please continue to the second page where you will be asked to complete information regarding the student applicant.

Project GO, an initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), provides fully funded scholarships to students commissioning through Air Force, Army and Navy ROTC to study critical languages domestically and abroad. The goal of Project GO is to develop future military officers who possess the cross-cultural communication skills required for effective leadership in the 21st century operational environment.

Since 2007, Project GO has awarded scholarships to approximately 3,000 ROTC students from 185 different U.S. institutions to study the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, Dari, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, Urdu, Uzbek and Wolof.

For more information, please go to http://www.rotcprojectgo.org/. Please direct any questions to the IIE Project GO staff at rotc@iie.org.
